Creating a Thinking Classroom for Language Learners

How can we create genuine and authentic student learning experiences while integrating curriculum standards? In this workshop, participants will embark on a learning journey through reflection, inquiry and action to discover how effective teaching can occur in a multicultural and multilingual thinking classroom.

Language teachers and teachers of multilingual classrooms will find this workshop valuable.

Session Goals:

  • Participants will reflect on their practices and learn about practical and effective strategies to improve their planning and teaching.
  • The goal of the workshop is to empower language educators with innovative and adaptable pedagogical strategies that actively engage students in critical thinking within the context of language learning.

Fang Wang:

Fang is a passionate and committed IB educator who has served the IB world in the past twenty-four years as an IB workshop leader of foundational workshops for both the MYP and the DP, an IB School Visit Team Leader, an MYP consultant and an IB field representative. Fang works in the World Languages Department as a Chinese Language Teacher at the NIST International School in Thailand. Fang has been working for three IB programs in different school systems. With extensive working experiences as a Chinese Language Teacher, Team Leader, principal overseeing the Chinese Program and Head of the World Languages Department, Fang has grown into a reputable international educator with a deep understanding of the IB programs across the PYP, the MYP and the DP. Fang believes working collectively in a learning community always brings inspiring outcomes through cultivating a creative mindset, purposeful collaborative planning, and shared pedagogy practices.
