Advancing Coaching in International Schools

This Precon is a dedicated space for advancing coaching in your school and our region. Bringing together Digital coaches, Instructional coaches, Math & Literacy coaches, and learning leaders, we will examine the essential conditions that make coaching work. This precon is a “collaborative” meaning we will co-construct our understanding through sharing experiences, resources, and models while also creating space to grow our practice as coaches. Participants can expect to leave with skills and direction for advancing coaching culture, and coaching practice, at their school.

Design & Technology Innovation Coach

Amy is a dynamic and creative leader in international education, currently serving as a Design and Technology Innovation Coach at the International School of Prague. She lives the ethos of L2 to Embrace Innovation and Empower Learners. As a coach, her aim is to build capacity in all learners & leaders and build community through storytelling. An advocate for student voice and choice, Amy has designed and implemented innovative Media and Design spaces and programs in Mumbai, Shanghai, Istanbul and Hong Kong to provide students with authentic real-world environments and rich experiences to grow and develop their creativity, collaboration, and resilience.

Dave is a coach and international educator who is passionate about coaching and the intersection of music and digital art forms. Dave serves his teaching faculty as a thought partner, supporting individuals and teams to amplify student learning and works closely with the technology and innovation team across the school to promote innovative practice in a variety of areas.

Make to Learn! How Integrating Making and Robotics can Amplify Learning

How can I bring STEAM skills into my classroom? What can real integration of robotics and coding look like? What easy tools are out there to make it possible?  Join us for a day to explore authentic integration of making, robotics, coding into any classroom. This will be a day to learn by doing so come ready to play and learn. Participants will get the opportunity to attend specific hands-on workshops with experts and also collaborate together on a project. We will also have time to share and learn from one another. This promises to be a productive and fun filled day!

Associate Head of Elementary School

Jill Zappia is the Associate Head of Elementary School at Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona. She has 14 years of experience in schools in the USA, Kuwait, Korea and Spain. Having been a teacher in elementary and middle school as well as a school wide technology and innovation coach, Jill is passionate about maker, technology integration and inquiry based learning. She holds a Masters in New Literacy and Global Learning as well as a Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership. When she’s not at school, Jill enjoys exploring nearby hiking and biking trails.
